María José Suárez Confirms López Split in ¡HOLA!

In what’s shaping up to be the cause célèbre (or in this case causa célebre) of the year for tennis, the ex-girlfriend of Spanish tennis star and part-time model Feliciano López, confirms that López is indeed the father of her baby and that they have split up for good according to an exclusive interview she gave to ¡HOLA! magazine.

In the interview, María José Suárez said López was quote “the man of my life” but that the rocky on-again, off-again five year relationship was finally off for good and that there was quote, “no turning back”.

Although rumors circulated for some time that the long-time pair were done after Suárez grew tired of López’s partying ways, it appears that her pregnancy, and the back and forth on who was the father, proved too much in the end. As noted earlier this week, López did not hear about the pregnancy first from Suárez, but from reporters at last’s week ATP tour event in Barcelona.

Of course, Suárez herself is a little suspect for waiting to break her silence until now, or more likely until ¡HOLA! paid her to do so. ¡HOLA!, like it’s British counterpart Hello! will most likely feature Suárez as it’s cover story with shots of her in glamorous repose at her home. As Edina Monsoon of “Absolutely Fabulous” once said, “if you have to spill your guts, you might as well do so in the privacy and comfort of your own home.”

As for López, perhaps all the media buzz will make him want to stay on the courts longer. He gets to do just that as he won his night match at the Italian Open over Marin Cilic 2-6, 7-6(2), 6-4.
