In a nice piece of news from the BNP Paribas Open, tournament organizers have announced that a sequel to the well-received “Hit for Haiti” charity event that took place at the beginning of the Australian Open is now set and will feature Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal again.
Larry Ellison, the new owner of the event, was moved by the response of the first “Hit for Haiti” event set up to help victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti so he wanted to recreate it at Indian Wells.
This time it will feature Roger Federer and Pete Sampras playing doubles against Rafael Nadal and Andre Agassi. The match is scheduled for the evening of Friday, March 12th at 7:30pm and will be broadcast by the Tennis Channel.
“I wanted to bring together an exceptional group of players, with an unprecedented amount of Grand Slam titles, at the BNP Paribas Open, said Ellison. Our goal is to leave a memorable impression on fans, while raising a substantial amount of money that will directly impact the needs of people in Haiti.”
All proceeds raised will benefit the American Red Cross and their relief efforts in Haiti. For more information, click here or visit the official BNP Paribas Open site.
