James Blake got his 2010 season underway with an impressive win over the current American No. 2 Sam Querrey with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at the Brisbane International yesterday.
Blake’s forehand was the key to the match after he got down an early break allowing Querrey to take the first set. But Blake’s stunning amount of 20 forehand winners allowed him to take the second set especially when he ripped return winners off of Querrey’s serve. The last set was close but Querrey wasn’t able to come up with enough big serves to hold off Blake who broke at 4-4 allowing him to serve it out.
As I don’t have cable tv (yet) I listened to the match through AO Radio which I recommend if nothing else to get an Australian perspective of this leg of the season. Aside from the commentary, it offers listeners the chance to interact with the announcers through Facebook, Twitter and email by asking questions and posting your thoughts.
Even though the actual radio station is based in Australia, listeners tune in from all over again proving that any radio station is basically worldwide nowadays.
